เมื่อวันที่ 9 มีนาคม พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ประทับรถเข็นพระที่นั่งเสด็จลงจากอาคารที่ประทับชั้น 16 อาคารเฉลิมพระเกียรติ โรงพยาบาลศิริราช ประทับรถยนต์พระที่นั่งไปยังโครงการส่วนพระองค์ สวนจิตรลดา พระราชวังดุสิต เป็นการส่วนพระองค์ โดยทรงฉลองพระองค์เชิ้ตแขนสั้น ลายสก๊อตสีเหลือง ทรงมีพระพักตร์แจ่มใส ขณะที่รถยนต์พระที่นั่งแล่นผ่าน พสกนิกรที่เฝ้ารอรับเสด็จต่างพร้อมใจกันเปล่งเสียง "ทรงพระเจริญ" ดังกึกก้องไปทั่วบริเวณ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงแย้มพระสรวล พร้อมกับโบกพระหัตถ์ให้กับพสกนิกรที่เฝ้ารอรับเสด็จ สร้างความปลาบปลื้มปีติให้กับพสกนิกรเป็นอย่างยิ่ง ที่ได้เห็นพระองค์ทรงมีพระวรกายแข็งแรง ประชาชนบางรายถึงกับหลั่งน้ำตาออกมาด้วยความปลาบปลื้ม

จากนั้นเวลา 15.48 น. พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เสด็จพระราชดำเนินถึงโครงการส่วนพระองค์ สวนจิตรลดา ทอดพระเนตรโรงสีข้าวตัวอย่างสวนจิตรลดา และทอดพระเนตรนิทรรศการพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์ช่วยสีข้าว ซึ่งจัดแสดงอยู่ภายในโรงสีข้าวตัวอย่างสวนจิตรลดา ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อปี 2514 ในเวลานั้นพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว มีพระราชดำริในการแก้ไขปัญหาความยากจนของเกษตรกร อันเนื่องมาจากการขายข้าวเปลือกได้ในราคาถูกกว่า ควรให้ชาวนารวมกลุ่มกันเป็นสหกรณ์ทำการสีข้าวเปลือกด้วยตนเอง แทนที่จะนำไปขายให้โรงสีในราคาถูก จึงพระราชทานพระราชทรัพย์ส่วนพระองค์ให้จัดตั้งโรงสีข้าวแห่งนี้ขึ้น เพื่อเป็นตัวอย่างในการทดลองเผยแพร่ความรู้เรื่องการสีข้าวแก่เกษตรกร ตลอดจนเป็นยุ้งฉางสำหรับศึกษาวิธีการเก็บรักษาข้าวเปลือกชนิดต่างๆ อย่างถูกต้องเหมาะสม 

ในโอกาสนี้ ทอดพระเนตรเครื่องสีข้าว "ปิ่นแก้ว" ซึ่งเป็นเครื่องสีข้าวที่มีผู้นำมาน้อมเกล้าฯถวายให้ใช้งาน ณ โรงสีข้าวแห่งนี้มาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ.2516 และเครื่องสีข้าวอีกเครื่องหนึ่งซึ่งใช้งานอยู่คู่กัน

จากนั้น เสด็จพระราชดำเนินผ่านโรงนมเม็ดสวนดุสิต โรงนมผงสวนดุสิต และโรงนมยูเอชที สวนจิตรลดา มาประทับพักพระราชอิริยาบถ ณ บ้านพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์ ซึ่งเดิมกรมการพลังงานทหาร ศูนย์การอุตสาหกรรมป้องกันประเทศและพัฒนาพลังงานทหาร จัดสร้างขึ้นน้อมเกล้าฯถวาย เนื่องในโอกาสทรงครองสิริราชสมบัติครบ 50 ปี เมื่อปี 2539 เพื่อศึกษาการผลิตพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์เป็นพลังงานทางเลือก และได้มีการปรับปรุงติดตั้งอุปกรณ์เพิ่มเติมมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง จนกระทั่งในปี พ.ศ.2549 จึงได้มีการก่อสร้างใหม่เป็นอาคารหลังปัจจุบัน

สมควรแก่เวลา จึงประทับรถยนต์พระที่นั่งเสด็จพระราชดำเนินกลับอาคารเฉลิมพระเกียรติ โรงพยาบาลศิริราช เมื่อเวลา 16.59 น. รวมเวลาทั้งสิ้น 1 ชั่วโมง 23 นาที
